What the Calm the Quiet Veteran Navigator collects, why, and the choices you have.
Calm the Quiet Foundation ("Calm the Quiet," "we," "us") runs the Calm the Quiet Veteran Navigator, a free directory that helps Veterans, service members, families, caregivers and survivors find resources and organizations. This policy explains how we handle information on this website. Questions go to the contact details at the end of this page.
You can enter a ZIP code, choose the areas where you need help and see results without creating an account or telling us your name. We do not keep a record of what an individual visitor searched for.
We do keep anonymous counts for each organization, such as how many times it appeared in results or how many times someone selected its website, phone number or email. Organizations see these totals in their dashboard. The counts are not linked to you.
To create a free account we ask for your first and last name, email address, a password, your ZIP code and which description fits you (for example Veteran, spouse or caregiver). Your password is stored in encrypted form and we cannot read it.
You can also add, if you choose: branch of service, state, how you prefer to be contacted, accessibility needs, and the areas of assistance you are interested in. Inside your account you can save resources, organizations and searches, and keep track of which organizations you have contacted.
We never ask for your Social Security number, service records, DD-214, disability rating or medical records to use the Navigator.
Some areas, such as Mental Health, PTSD Support or Substance Use Recovery, can say something about your health. Colorado law treats health information as sensitive. Adding these areas to your profile is optional, and we only save them when you add them yourself. By adding them you agree that we may store them to show you relevant resources. You can remove them at any time from your profile.
Organizations that list with us give us a contact name, email address and phone number, details about the organization and its services, the areas it serves, the plan it chooses and any documents it uploads so we can verify it. Listing details are published on the Navigator so Veterans and families can find them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and keep the site secure. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Listings link to organizations' own websites, and our crisis links go to the Veterans Crisis Line. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not cover them.
We keep your account information until you delete your account. You can delete it yourself from your account profile, which removes your profile and everything you saved. When an organization account is closed, its listing is archived for our records rather than deleted. We keep payment and donation records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
You can view and update your profile, remove optional details, unsubscribe from resource updates and delete your account at any time.
If you live in Colorado, the Colorado Privacy Act gives you the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, to see it, to correct it, to delete it, to get a copy you can take elsewhere, and to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and certain profiling. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising or profiling.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If you disagree with the outcome of your appeal, you can contact the Colorado Attorney General.
The Navigator uses an encrypted connection, passwords are stored in encrypted form, and access to account information is limited to the people who run the Navigator. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Colorado law requires.
The Navigator is meant for adults. Accounts are for people 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
When we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use account information, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
